COLLEGE>HIGH SCHOOL

i dont think i have ever expressed how much i truly love college. i mean yea i miss my friends and family but i have made some pretty amazing friends here as well. the only thing that is so not cool about college is that you actually have to study. in high school all u had to do was attend classes, do ur homework (most the time no one did either of those anyway), take the test (so we kinda were forced to do those), and make somewat of an effort to pass the class (and everyone did cause u were in high school), but college u pull all nighters studyin for that test u have thats gonna b a beast. i mean 100 questions timed with 10 essays or somethin crazy like that then when u go to take it it either kicks u in the butt or its not as hard as u thought it would b. either way u got like 3 hours of sleep and u r SO tired! but thats really the only downfall of college. i feel like some of the upsides of college should not really be mentioned on the internet (if my mom looked this up and saw some of them she would bring me home ASAP) so i will just leave it at the amazing friends and awesome memories.

Random Blog

you walk in and its a big room with a lot of art all over the wall. the doors open and people head in to sit down looking toward the stage. chairs lined in perfect rows across the stage and u know from that point that u r going to b there a while. the door to the side opens and they all file out to sit and perform.

just in case u didnt catch on... i went to bryan fine arts building to watch a performance. my best friend is a senior this year and she is in the horn choir. they had a performance and she asked me if i would come and support her. with her being my best friend i couldnt even think about looking at her and telling her no. so even though im not big into the whole music genres that do not have words (my music has to have words for me to like it or pay attention to it) i went anyway. it wasnt as bad as i had planned. they had some songs that were upbeat and very enjoyable but they also had some that were slower and longer and lost my attention after a while. i wanted to stay and talk to her afterwards but i had to register that night so of course i couldnt.

Service Fair

i went to a service fair earlier this year and I'm just now getting around to writing about it. when my friend mentioned something about going i was so not into going but when i went how i felt about it completely changed. you walk in and tables are set up everywhere with representatives sitting right beside them to tell u all about what it is they do or what you would be doing to help. any questions or concerns about anything, they were very eager to answer. they didn't pressure you to sign up to volunteer or anything but the way they talked about it made u wanna sign up just to help out. all together i am really glad i went. i signed up to help a local hospice place here in Cookeville and when i get a chance to help out i will. everyone should go and at least experience this if nothing else.

Multi-Cultural Event

so i went to this multi-cultural event and it was horrible! i had to force myself to stay there as long as i did. it was slide shows of different cultures and some clips with one of those monotoned voices telling you all about it. it was kinda like history class with the way the movies were set up. the only thing i REALLY liked about it was the food :). i could not tell u what exactly it was that i ate but it was chicken and somethin or another. ha im honestly not 100% positive what it was. i am more of a thrill seeker and i would do anything to have fun. if i could i would totally jump out of a plane, so goin to an event like this kinda killed me. i left before the event was over but i left on a full stomach so i cant complain too much :)!

Section 4 readings

As I sat down to read this last night, I once again fell asleep. I have no idea why I do that except that it bores me and I force myself to sit there and read it till I am done... but never imagined falling asleep. So this morning, I woke up, went to class, ate with a friend, came back to my room, and started to read where I left off at. It was yet another failed attempt. BUT NO WORRIES! I finally got them done and now I am writing this :). Okay so, I think reading those stories and details/ tips on how to make a good review really helped me. Yea it took me a while to actually be able to read them all but once I got them done, I'm kind of glad I read them. They gave me more of a understanding on my job as a writer for my next paper that is due.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

wow... i really have no idea what to say bout this show... it was so freakin awesome!!! it was fun and amazing!!! to be honest, before i heard about it here on tech i had never heard of this show before... i had no idea what i was getting myself into and no one really wanted to warn me cause they thought it was funny... i went with my best friend and she had never seen it before either but she knew kind of what she was getting into and throughout the entire movie she was laughin at me. raised in a christian school and going to that really made an impression lol. not a bad one just something i have never really been experienced before in my life. would i do it again? HELL YES I WOULD!!! it was wonderful and i loved it very very much. The people who acted it out are winners at life because that took a lot of nerve to get up there and act out some of those scenes that were shown in the movie. especially the guy who played Rocky... it had to take a lot of nerve to get up there and dress like that in front of so many people. if the show goes on again next year u better place money imma b there if at all possible!!!

Reading Over Homeless On Campus

This piece kept my attention. I really liked it. It's really sad to hear of people who have to live in the streets for whatever reason and it's awesome to hear of people who are willing to help. Of course there are shelters and things that can help out but with so many people out and about on the streets looking for shelter it's never promised that you will have a place to go. I mean some shelters probably fill up really quick and finding one that isn't full has got to be hard. Toward the end it talks of the teacher who is identified as B.R. I think that what she did was amazing and moving! She didn't have to care for the students that much but the fact that she did said so much for her. This story all together was very interesting and I personally liked it!

Reading Over Meet Joe Blog

As I have stated once before, I am not much of a blogger. Honestly if it weren't for English class, I would never have had a blog to begin with. I dunno if that plays a role in this or not but the reading that we had to do for class bored me and made me wonder how people could really get into blogging like the people who were talked about did. People find all sorts of things to write about so they just get on and write? To me that just doesn't make since. I cannot sit all day at a computer and for people to find time in their busy lives to sit and write about whats happening in Washington State when they live in Virgina or somewhere blows me out of the water. There is a world outside of blogging so go see it! I mean blogging like once a blue moon or when something has stressed you out or what not seems somewhat reasonable, but to make it something like a job just seems retarded to me. Sorry if this offends anyone but I just think it's because I do not understand or like blogging.

Church Discussion over Helping Hands Form

The in class discussion the other day was amazing! Everything that was said is so true. One thing that was said (I think by Marley) was that Church of Christ people push thier religion onto others. From experience, I can say that is true. I was raised Church of Christ and once I got to college and out on my own I began to go to a church that was that was not a Church of Christ. Don't get me wrong, I love all my family and friends that are Church of Christ it just wasn't for me. There would be times when I would want to invite one of my friends to church but I didn't because I didnt want everyone in my church to start bothering them about their rfeligion compared to ours or push them into coming more often if they don't really go to church. I feel there is only so much you can do to encourage someone to come to church or to make them feel welcome enough to come back and I feel that Church of Christ members sometimes push it a little too far. But to end on a good note, the discussion was amazing!

Casting Crowns Concert

The Sommet Center in Downtown Nashville was slammed with a lot of Christian groups and people who believe in God from all over the place Friday night. Casting Crowns, an amazing and one of the most well known Christian music groups, was putting on a concert. The concert was amazing. It wasn’t just a concert, it was also a time of worship with God. Plenty of prayers were lifted to Christ throughout the entire concert, and during the concert they even offered people a chance to adopt a child. They did not pressure but encouraged you to adopt a child. Like the Rodney Atkins Concert, when they walked off no one left but continued to cheer and clap and go crazy trying to get an encore. Casting Crowns came out and gave their encore songs. Once they were done the lights on stage dimmed and the overhead lights came on. People then started to leave.

Rodney Atkins Concert

The Rodney Atkins concert was held at the Hoop on TTU’s campus, and all I can say is wow. It was so amazing! Phil Vassar opened and was outstanding. He played for about thirty minutes with fans on their feet singing every word to all the songs. The people who had no idea what the song was saying still could not help but to be on their feet moving with the music. Then Rodney Atkins came on and just about everyone if not everyone in the place went wild! He played all of his amazing songs with the crowd going crazy. When he was done playing, he said thanks for coming and left the stage. The crowd would not leave and started to chant “RODNEY”. He then came out for hi encore, and when he was done everyone finally started to leave.

Pop Culture Blog Part 3

I suck at English. There is not a thing I like about it. But having a computer helps. For instance: you tell me to write this crazy paper that I know nothing about, I’ll just go online and Google it. Or some big word that should probably mean something to me but I have yet to learn, id pull up some Webster online and search it. But my all time favorite is the word that comes on it. I can write something then do like a spell check and grammar check on it and tada my paper already looks a lot better!!! But it’s not all about work either, I also like to go online to email or chat with friends and so on. I go online to my email accounts and check out all my mail and reply or even go straight to the facebook IM people that I know and talk to. Another awesome feature is the games. My cousin is 5 years old he can gets on a computer just to play games! When I was five I think I might have been lucky to even have a computer around me (then again I was kind of destructive). But you can go online to play games or you can do the games that come fully loaded on your computer (such as solitaire and free cell and so on). And the tabs on the side of your screen and super helpful! I have a clock and the date and the weather up on mine. I have notes to when I have something to remember but right now there are no notes up there. Basically the computer is amazing and is a true life saver!

Pop Culture Blog Part 2

Cell phones are the new thing these days. If you don’t have a cell phone more than likely you want one and if you do have a cell phone more than likely it is permanently attached to you in one way or another. I’ll be the first to admit it… I could not live without my cell phone! For instance, one morning I got up to head to class and I couldn’t find my cell phone. I was meeting a friend that morning to walk with her to class and I was actually late meeting her because I was looking for it. I never found it so knowing that I had to go I left without my cell phone. After class one of my friends wanted to go eat and I told her that after I found my phone I would. So she walks with me back to my dorm room and we both look for it for a LARGE amount of time. We then decide that it might be easier to call it and listen for it to go off (it was on vibrate mode so it was really quite in the room). Once we found it we headed to lunch. While in lunch I couldn’t help but to read the 5 text messages I had missed and checked my missed calls and who left me voicemails. Also with cell phones these days, you can personalize your phone! I mean if you wanted to you could get a cover for it or a Bluetooth. The covers show how different you are from everyone else who has the exact same phone as you and the Bluetooth simply keeps people on the go connected and still addicted to this little device. The other day I was walking through Wal-Mart and I saw a lady talking to herself. I thought “geez… she’s nuts!!!” then she turns around and hanging from her purse is her phone and in her ear is a dang Bluetooth!!! And the same thing goes for those people in the car that talk to the invisible person beside them. Yea, nine times out of ten they have a Bluetooth glued onto their ear. I can say that I have never and plan on never having a BluetoothJ.

Pop Culture Blog Part 1

I love music! I love how no matter your mood u can listen to it and somehow someway your mood can change and make your day even better. I listen to everything! My personal favorite is country. I was raised by my grandma to listen to country and that’s what I have always done. One of my all time favorite singers is Kenny Chesney. He is country but the lyrics to his song make you think of the beach when he sings. He is very tropical when it comes to singing his songs. I met this girl in high school and she became a little sister to me and she doesn’t like to share a lot about her grandpa. I met her grandpa a couple months into our friendship and that’s when she told me that her grandpa was the producer for Kenny Chesney! O I freaked out!!! I mean while I was around her I held it in cause I didn’t want to seem like an idiot. I mean she had grown up around this singer who I loved! And on top of that I didn’t want her to get the impression that I only wanted to be her friend because of who her grandfather was. So for a while, every summer we would go to the Kenny Chesney concert and thanks to her grandfather I would get in free. Kenny Chesney was the first concert I went to and that started a love for concerts. Concerts are full on adrenaline rushes!!! To me I have a rollercoaster ride at concerts. Like I’m really excited about this band that I am there to see but at the same time I’m super pumped about all the opening acts and other people playing as well. When any of the bands would go on stage my heart would race! I LOVE THAT FEELING! When they left the stage I hit the mode where I was like “are you being serious right now?!” and my hearts speed would slowly begin to drop. Those are just some freaking awesome times dealing with music that has happened to me.

Online Quizes

After class, I headed over to the library to get on the computer since I could not get internet access, and I took the quizzes online. No offense to anyone who wants to talk about how they feel but I do not really feel like sharing things about me that was said through a quiz. Yea, I learned some stuff i didn't know about me, but I also believe that if there is anything you would like to know you should just straight up ask me! Quizzes can only do so much then judge you on how you answered the small amount of questions it asked you. I feel that if you really care about getting to know my religious beliefs, personality, and/or political views you should just ask me. I'm not the type to lie or freak out on you for thinking or feeling different than I do. I'm not here to impress anyone, I'm just here to be me.

Memoirs

So, I sat down late last night to read the momoirs that were assigned, and honestly I was not a fan. They were uninteresting to me. Actually, I'm pretty sure I fell asleep while reading the second one. There were bits and pieces where I will admit, it was funny, but for the most part, they did not interest me whatsoever. The first one hit creeper mode and it made me feel like i was being a creeper for actually reading the story of someone stalkin someone else, but it also really made me think of how everyone else might feel when we talk about them or judge them without really getting to know them. It made me kinda do a quick check on my life. It also made me think about how people might see me. The second story we read really got awkward. Personally I do not smoke or dream of being with anyone in a well known band so to me it was like wow... really? Ha but that's just me. Bassically I was not a huge fan (sorry to all that were).

Writing About Writing

So the assignment was to write about my history of writing, and I have noticed that up until now I do not write unless I get completely bored or unless it is an assignment! My past with writing is nothing of great interest. I started writing in like Kindergarten, but if you really think about it just about everyone did. You started by learning all about your ABC's and from there your history of writing should have taken off. Mine took off, because I felt like I knew everything once I could spell and make sentences. I remember how I use to sit down and make up all these different stories from animals who could talk to trolls taking princesses away from huge beautiful castles. As I grew up and lost interest in those sorts of things, I felt myself slipping away from writing. Now I only write when I text, email, instant message, take notes, pass notes, or even just write papers that are required for grades. I text, email, and instant message ALL the time and everything else is very different. Other than texting, emailing, and instant messaging, I have no interest in writing. I can hold a conversation on the phone for hours at a time or even in person I could talk a while, but i can never hold good conversations while writing. So keeping up with this blog is going to be a beast, and honestly I do not see myself writing in this blog a lot unless I am told to do so as an assignment.
